About Health Funds

In Hungary, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and dental problems are so common that they are almost considered widespread health conditions.

That is why everyone should place increasing emphasis on disease prevention, early detection, and, of course, recovery and rehabilitation.

Health funds provide services that support health protection, prevention, and health promotion, complementing services that are not covered, or only partially covered, by the national health insurance system.

The state also recognizes and supports this form of health-focused financial planning. As a result, you can receive a significant tax credit of 20%, up to a maximum of HUF 150,000 per year, which is deducted from your personal income tax (PIT).

The returns earned on your health fund account are exempt from interest tax.

What else is worth knowing:

  • The services of the health fund can also be used by your close relatives.
  • You can designate beneficiaries who, in the event of your death, will inherit the savings accumulated in your individual account without the need for probate proceedings.
  • Your employer may cover part or all of your membership contributions.
  • With Generali Health Fund, you can receive discounts of 5–40% on healthcare products and services from contracted partners across Hungary.
  • Upon joining, you will receive a Generali Health Card, which allows you to shop easily, securely, and without cash.
  • Available from as little as HUF 5,000 per month (also available through your employer as part of a cafeteria benefits scheme!).
